Remembering Fallen Heroes, Our Veterans,
and Current Military Armed Forces

Each May we set aside time to remember and honor those who died while serving our country and protecting our way of life. This month, Milwaukee Public Television is proud to bring you programs that remind us about the many contributions our armed forces have made.

Featured programs include Coming Back with Wes Moore, a three-part special focusing on the questions facing veterans returning from war; Escape from a Nazi Death Camp, an extraordinary story of courage celebrating 300 Jewish prisoners’ bloody break-out from death camp; and Yellow Ribbon, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the end of the hostilities in Vietnam.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day June 6, 1944. The invasion of France was a triumph of intelligence, secrecy, and planning. D-Day Uncovered, Nova: D-Day’s Sunken Secrets, and Day of Days: June 6, 1944 feature various aspects of this pivotal event in history.

Tune in for the National Memorial Day Concert. Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise co-host the 25th anniversary broadcast of the National Memorial Day Concert, a night of remembrance honoring the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all those who have given their lives for our country.
